The Elafiti Islands are a small archipelago with several islands located northwest of the city of Dubrovnik. The day trip to this magnificent place is a great idea for these people who look for tranquility and rest among beautiful nature. Among the Elafiti Islands there are only three permanently inhabited islands and they are undoubtedly worth visiting. Via daily ferry you can get to Šipan, Lopud and Koločep. Šipan is the biggest island which was a favourite place for aristocracy from Dubrovnik. Tourists can find there 15th – century architecture, remains of Roman villa or even 15th-century Gothic duke’s palace. Lopud is famous for its sandy beaches, 16th – century churches and monasteries and stone houses with exotic gardens. At the Koločep island there can be found pre-Romanesque churches. The island is the closest island to Dubrovnik.
The another perfect destination for day trips from Dubrovnik is the Island of Mljet. This most of the island's area is covered with thick forest. There are some small villages surrounded by vineyards. In the west part of the island is the Mljet National Park with lush vegetation, vast lakes and scenic views of an islet located in the middle of the Big Lake with the Benedictine Monastery.
The Korčula island is the sixth-largest Adriatic island. The well-preserved Old Town, numerous historical sites, beautiful nature make this place extremely alluring. The area of the Korcula island is covered with vineyards, olive groves and woods. There are small villages, original Greek settlements and amazing sea views. You can find there both sandy and pebbly beaches, tranquil coves which are perfect for resting.
